Goodbye Friend

In memory of my friend Lesley who we say goodbye to today:

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you wake in the morning hush,
I am the swift, uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft starlight at night.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die!

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am the song that will never end.
I am the love of family and friend.
I am the child who has come to rest
In the arms of the Father
who knows him best.

When you see the sunset fair,
I am the scented evening air.
I am the joy of a task well done.
I am the glow of the setting sun.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
Do not stand at my grave and cry.
I am not there, I did not die.

Why drinking too much can be bad for you

Some bad news for Men

Drinking can affect your sex life. Men can suffer from temporary impotence (Brewer's droop) after drinking. People who drink heavily over a long period of time might also suffer from:

* Less interest in sex
* Impotence
* Shrinking of the testicles
* Reduction in penis size
* Reduced sperm production
* Loss of pubic and body hair
* Enlargement of the breasts (as a complication of damage to the liver)

So who wants one for the road?

A Good Night Out in Bristol

I've visited Bundy's a couple of times and I am due to go there again the next time I go into Bristol on the 26th. It's a great place to meet up with friends and enjoy catching up before moving onto a club at closing time or just for having a drink without all the noise of one of the many other bars in Clifton. The landlord is very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for him.
The door way can be a bit off putting but once down in the bar you won't be disappointed. It's big and spacious with lots of room to mingle with friends.
The smoking area is large with tables and chairs on a large patio, which is reached straight from the bar area.
Bundy's is a great place for meeting before a night out on the town, (it's only a short walk from Park Street) an office party or just for going out with friends to have a catch up on the local news.

What ever your reason for going out at night in Clifton, there is no better place to meet up then Bundy's. See you there soon!

Buy To Let or Buying Trouble?

My New House

I now have the keys to my new house here in sunny Plymouth. Well it's not so sunny but it is my home town and so to me it's always nice to be here.

My brother, Mike, had picked the keys up for me, after an argument with the man in the estate agents and an angry phone call from me to their head office, and took a couple friends down to the house to make a list of things that need doing. John, my mate had already taken the net curtains down off the grubby windows and washed them for me before I arrived.

I didn't get to Plymouth from Bristol till quite late so decided to wait until the next day to go and see the house, now, as it's new owner. That night I spoke with Mike and we made a simple list of paint and other various items which I could buy the next day to take to the house with me.

Morning dawned and my Mike went off to work. I soon realised that I had no idea where any of the big DIY shops where in Plymouth so I phoned a friend. Mark, it said on my phone, so I dialled the number. Bugger, straight to answer machine. Face book message it was to be then. Luckily for me Mark was on-line. A couple of messages later and Mark was on his way.

Off to B&Q we went with a list in our minds of what we were getting. 3, 10L pots and 12, 2.5L pots of various natural coloured paint, sugar soap to clean all the wood work, and there is loads of it, rollers. bucket and a coffee later we had finished. Off to the house we went.

After carrying in all the paint and stuff we had a look at the gas and electric meters and this is when things started to go off plan.

The estate agent must have known that I would need to put the electric back on when I got the house but did they think of it? No and now I have to chase them up cause it's not working. The water was turned off at the mains. Did they tell me where to turn it back on again? NO. So no cleaning and no painting can be done till they are fixed.

I'm sat here, in Mike's house, with loads to do and not able to do it. I've gone shopping this morning and got Mike his birthday presentand pick something up for him. I've got myself a new camera and some flowers for the dinning room table, but the reason why I've taken a week off work and come to Plymouth for I can't do. I'm not happy!

Solicitors are the winners in house buying. You get quoted a price it's all going to cost and you happily pay it when you sign the house contract. Then, a week later, you get another bill in the post, after you've been phoned to say you can collect the keys. At the top of the bill are the words “As it states on the 5th page of the agreement” Who the hell ever reads all 7 pages of an agreement?

Ryan Templar, my mortgage adviser based in Whitchurch, Bristol, as been excellent throughout my involvement with him. Every time I got a letter from one of the solicitors or one of the two building societys I took it to him. He dealt with everything. He phoned, emailed and argued my case. I don't think I could have got through the minefield of buying a house to let without him. I'll be visiting him one more time with the new bill I got just before I left Bristol, but I'm sure he can fix it.

Roll on Friday when we are out for a meal for Mike's birthday :)

2 Questions For a Sunday

I have 2 questions on my mind today. The first one is "Can long distance relationships really work?" and the second is "What age would I go back to if I could?"

I'll take the first one first. I think it's always good to start at the beginning.
I suppose it would depend how long the distance was and how often you could see the other person, as well as, who was the one having to do the travelling or if it was shared. Of course there is always the question of trust. I think I will need to draw up a list of advantages and disadvantages and then which list got the most I would go for that one. I'll let you know when the lists are done.
If I could go back to any age in my life it would be 16.
At 16 I went on a blind date with my mate's, mate. This shaped the rest of my life. We went out together for 2 years, until he went home. He wasn't English and just before he went home he asked if I would be his second wife! He had already been promised in marriage to someone from his home, something he forgot to tell me about when we met, and as he was allowed more than one wife, wanted me as well as the one that he was promised too. Of course I said no,but spent the next 2 months helping him buy presents for his new wife to be.
I think this may have been where my distrust in men started. I have had a husband and different relationships since then but apart from my husband, who I would trust with my life, even today after being separated for 18 years, I don't think I have met a man who hasn't lied to me.
If I was 16 again I wouldn't go on that blind date and who knows I may still be with the same man all these years later.

Letter to Will Skuse

Dear Will Skuse

In your comments under the post "Tim, Vodka and MILF" you ask me, twice, If I am wanting some fun.

Now fun can mean so many different things to so many different people.

If, on a dating site, someone asked me if I wanted some fun I would know what they meant. Sex.

If I was on facebook and one of my friends asked me if I wanted some fun, they would mean going out in town, having a few vodka's and a laugh.

If I was booking a holiday and was asked if I was looking for some fun I would expect a busy resort with lots of activities going on.

But you Will, have asked me if I want some fun, in a comment on my blog. As my blog is not a kiss and tell one, although I have often thought about writing one, I'm not too sure what you mean by fun.

Will Skuse would you please explain?

Kind Regards

Ladybristol

Reasons

I'm a nosey person by nature, anyone who knows me will tell you that. Question after question after question. Then I question the answers. I can't help it. I just got to know about people and things and how they work, what makes them tick.

Not only do I question others, I question myself. I always question why I'm doing something and ask myself if I should really be doing it.

I've been questioning why I do one particular thing, which I'm doing quite a lot presently. for ages now and have only just come up with the answer.

The thing I'm doing is really boring and quite mundane but I keep doing it.

Hopefully I'll be able to stop soon, as soon as I stop thinking.

New Mind. New Thoughts

It's amazing how a holiday can open up your eyes to what is wrong in your life. Two weeks of nothing to think about but yourself helps you put things into perspective and helps you sort out the shit in your life and just keep the good.
You go away full of junk in your mind and come home with just the things that mean something to you.

Of course if you're lucky you come home with memories of good times spent with great people and if very lucky, memories spent with one special person.

I've just had my holiday, two weeks in a very sunny Turkey and my mind is full of very different thoughts than the ones I went away with.

I say 'Out with the old and in with the new' and hopefully lots more fun to come.
