Why I'm Divorced

Why I'm Divorced

Last week was my birthday and I didn't feel very well waking up on that morning.

I went downstairs for breakfast hoping my husband would be pleasant and say, 'Happy Birthday!', and possibly have a small present for me.

As it turned out, he barely said good morning, let alone ' Happy Birthday..'

I thought....well, that's marriage for you, but the kids..... they will remember.

My kids came bouncing down stairs to breakfast and didn't say a word. So when I left for the office I felt pretty low and somewhat despondent.

As I walked into my office, my handsome boss Rick, said, 'Good morning, lady, and by the way Happy Birthday!' It felt a little better that at least someone had remembered.

I worked until one o'clock, when Rick knocked on my door and said, 'You know, It's such a beautiful day outside, and it is your birthday, what do you say we go out to lunch, just you and me.'

I said, 'Thanks, Rick, that's the greatest thing I've heard all day. Let's go!'

We went to lunch. But we didn't go where we normally would go. He chose instead a quiet bistro with a private table. We had two martinis each and I enjoyed the meal tremendously.

On the way back to the office, Rick said, 'You know, It's such a beautiful day...we don't need to go straight back to the office, do we?'

I responded, 'I guess not. What do you have in mind?'

He said, 'Let's drop by my place, it's just around the corner.'

After arriving at his house, Rick turned to me and said, 'If you don't mind, I'm going to step into the bedroom for just a moment. I'll be right back.'

'Ok.' I nervously replied.

He went into the bedroom and, after a couple of minutes, he came out carrying a huge birthday cake, followed by my husband, my kids, and dozens of my friends and co-workers, all singing 'Happy Birthday'.

And I just sat there....

on the couch....

naked.

My Brother's Wedding (Party Time)

A great weekend was had at the wedding of my brother last week. We travelled down from Bristol to Plymouth on Friday, went shopping in Plymouth city centre and then went to check all was well with my brother. After a coffee and a catch up with the gossip, we headed off for the bridge which would lead us to Cornwall and The China Fleet Club.

After putting our things into our apartments we went for a swim in the pool complete with water slide. My nephew, his wife and children had also arrived and were soon in the pool, children splashing about and the adult on the water slide.

The day merged into night and we found ourselves in the bar. Family together who had not seen each over for a while had a lot of news to catch up on and at 11pm the bar stall locked up the drink and left us to it. Of course we made sure we had stocked up on our drinks before they left.
When our drinks ran out we decided to go back to my daughters apartment and carry on our family party there with more drinks and games on the xbox connect. The Olympics played it's part in the games we played and the hurdles seem quite hard when you've had a bit too much to drink!

Heading back to our own apartments at 3am we tried to get to sleep in order to be up by 8am to get ready for the day of the wedding.

8.30 and the bride was having her make-up and hair done. Next it was the bridesmaids turn, who both looked lovely, and then time for us all to get dressed up and make our way to the ceremony.

Both the bride and groom got very emotional which set most of us watching off, with tears rolling down the faces of nearly every woman there and many of the men.

Meal, speeches and party time again. Everyone one had a great night and it seemed to all go too fast.

It was a great weekend and there's only one thing left to say:

Congratulation to my brother Mike and his new wife Leah, the newest addition to the Whitlock family.

One Down....One to Go

That's week one gone of my two weeks annal leave.

The week started with a weekend away to Brean and a 70's music extravaganza. Friday evening to Monday morning with wall to wall bands playing from the 70's and lots of vodka. I was joined by my brother, his fiancée, her mum and step-dad and my friend Joy whom I had meet the November before. We all had a brilliant time and are planning to go back again, some sooner than others.

Wednesday saw myself and my daughter and her friend taking the beautiful drive up to Birdland in Bourton on the Water. The Penguins were the main attraction for us all and feeding time was as amusing as ever. A look around the shops, some lunch and an ice cream ended the prefect day.

Saturday saw me having an operation on my mouth which I have been waiting to have for a long time. 3½ hours from start to finish and I'm left looking like a hamster on one side of my face. I have to go back for a check up on Thursday and then in 12 weeks time to have the finishing touches added.

I haven't got any firm plans for my second week but there is talk of going to West Midlands Safari Park. Lets hope the weather stays as nice as it was for my first week.
