Psychology, University, Memories

I've just come from 'The Cure is Worse Than The Disease' Blog and it took me back to my University days. It's written by a Social Worker in Southern New Jersey, US and is full of interesting facts and research used in psychology. If the workings of the human mind interest you then go take a look.

----------------------------------------

Before you do go take a look at one of the research pieces we covered in my psychology lectures. I found this both interesting and frightening when I watched it and it caused a lot of discussion amongst the students. It is about an Iowa schoolteacher who, the day after Martin Luther King Jr. was murdered in 1968, gave her third-grade students a first-hand experience in the meaning of discrimination. It's very powerful. A Class Divided

Dating Poll - Chat Up Lines

While searching through the dating sites I thought it would be fun to have a poll on who you would choose if you just had the 'chat up line' of the person seeking a date so I have decided to have my first poll on my blog. I will post an extract from the profiles of the people whose chat up lines I have used after the poll has finished.

Voting is now taking place in the side bar

You're So Gorgeous

This morning I went to the dentist, which is not one of my favourite past times. My usual dentist is a nice lady called Amanda, but today the dentist was a man in his early 30's tall, dark and yes, very handsome. In fact I would go as far to say he was gorgeous. I'm only glad he is my dentist and not my gynaecologist and it was my mouth I was opening and nothing else.

Anyway I sat in his chair, well, laid for most of the time, while he pushed and prodded at my teeth, talking to me all the time, in his smooth, deep voice, to try and alleviate the nervousness I was feeling. Well it worked and all I could think about was his hands in my mouth.

After he had finished I got out of the chair and was disappointed when he turned and said, 'Your next visit will be with Amanda. She double booked today but she will make sure you can see her next time'

Next time I register with a dentist I will insist I get to look at them first and not ask for the lady because I think they will be gentler, after all what's a little pain and suffering when there's a gorgeous man gazing at you.

Angry? You Bet He's Angry

Well it seems like the lads at Plymouth Argyle had a right telling off last night after their 4 - 2 defeat by Barnsley. I knew Ian Holloway wouldn't be very pleased but I think this is the most angry post match report I have seen from him. I'll let you judge for yourself.

Ebay Lolly

Well I've decided to have a clear out as I'm not at work at the mo and I've found some things from my cat showing days.

So far I've put three items on for auction and I've sold one of them, the others still have several days to run.

I was very honest when listing my item that I've sold and even told the bidders that the retail price for the item, which they can still buy either online or in shops, was £24.45. My item started at £7.50 with £3.50 postage costs.

When my item got to £15 I was pleased. Then this happened:

£31.00 13-Mar-07 10:18:40 GMT
£30.00 12-Mar-07 17:46:58 GMT
£25.99 12-Mar-07 13:45:58 GMT
£25.00 12-Mar-07 17:10:03 GMT
£20.99 12-Mar-07 13:45:28 GMT
£15.00 07-Mar-07 21:09:18 GMT

I'm not sure why anyone in their right minds would pay £31 plus £3.50 postage when they could get it for £24.45 but whatever their reason, I have the money and they now have my unwanted item. Lets hope it makes them happy.

I just found this quiz via someones 'myspace' I've not seen one like this before so I thought I would give it a go. Here's my results:

Puppies, How Cute

I went out to visit my friend this morning to catch up on the gossip and look what I found sleeping in the corner of her sitting room. 5 Shih Tzu puppies.
Aren't they cute.

Wembley Ready For Football

It looks like Wembley will be ready for Plymouth Argyle when they play in the final of the FA cup in May. This Sunday Watford will visit Home Park where Argyle will be the victors in a close game between the two sides. I will feel a bit sorry for the Watford fans after having to travel down for the 6pm kick off but I'm sure the feeling won't last long.

After Watford, Plymouth will be conqueroring one of the so called 'mightier sides' such as Chelsea or Man U, or some other premiership side, leaving Argyle a clear path all the way to the new stadium.

Then we march on to Wembley for the final. I can't wait!

(My mum always did say I was a bit of a dreamer)

Cannabis Carry On

A 68-year-old grandmother who cooked with cannabis to ease her depression, aches and pains has been ordered to carry out 250 hours' unpaid work after she was convicted of growing and possessing the drug.

A middle aged man who was found to have 9 cannabis plants growing in his loft got away with a caution from the police. (The man has previous offences)

Why the difference? Is it because she is a woman?

Searching

I’ve had the loan car since 20th February and how glad I am that I paid a little bit extra so I was covered in the event that my car was a write off. I now have the task of trying to find myself a new car. I haven’t yet had the offer from the insurance company for my car so it is difficult to gage how much I will have to spend. Also I have no idea about what car I want. I think a diesel one would be good as I do a lot of mile around town.

I have had a lot of cars in my time as a driver and my favourite one was my Megane. It was such a joy to drive and started first time every morning but it was getting a bit old so I changed it for a Rover, my biggest mistake.

Anyway I’m off now to see what I can find. Wish me luck!
