Cannabis Carry On

A 68-year-old grandmother who cooked with cannabis to ease her depression, aches and pains has been ordered to carry out 250 hours' unpaid work after she was convicted of growing and possessing the drug.

A middle aged man who was found to have 9 cannabis plants growing in his loft got away with a caution from the police. (The man has previous offences)

Why the difference? Is it because she is a woman?

You may be right, but we're not in possession of all the facts abouyt each case.

Granny says she uses cannabis to moderate her mental health issues. I say her mental health issues are being exacerbated by her cannabis use.

But for heavens sake don't criminalise this woman.

Hi.

Thanks for your comment, it's nice to hear from someone new to my blog.

Yes I agree with you that it could lead to her mental health issues worsening but she was also taking it for pain relief.

The man I mention was growing it to supply to others as well as for his own use and due to no conviction did not get into the press.

Maybe another reason why the man was not prosecuted could be, the police in the area where the man lives have different priorities.

I'm sure, whatever the reason, we will never know.
